A viral post on social media has called on the Enugu State Government and its residents to be at alert with the activities of MOT, an establishment of the state government.
It was gathered that the officials of MOT in Enugu capitalized on faulty traffic lights to extort money from innocent citizens and motorists through injustifiable heavy fines. It was reported that meanwhile, some of the traffic lights do not show yellow light anymore, while some of them do not show numbers again.
It was alleged that once a motorist is passing the green light, all of a sudden the red light will appear, unknowing to the motorist that the red light had appeared, the next thing the person will see is that people with bus and karki uniform will block him/her in the front and clamp the person’s tyre, anf informing you that you had jumped traffic light,
To Motorists shock, the MOT would force out N20,500 as fine for such traffic light offence, in addition to a vulcanizer of N1000 which such an offender must be made to pay for, totalling N21,500.
Recalling that some of the white lines on the roads before traffic light are no more visible, these MOT officials still extort money when  a motorist stop genuinely across the white lines. They will still clamp ones tyres and accuse the vehicle driver of crossing the white line when there is no visible white line to checkmate the driver. With that alone, another N21,500 is gone.
It was noted that the identifiable locations of such annoying acts by the MOT include the IMT/SHOPRITE the traffic light before PENTAGON SUPERMARKET BY ETISALAT / STARTIME JUNCTION,. The reported advised that, there, once the counting of the traffic light reaches 59, just stop, otherwise, after 59 it would show red light without warning and the MOT will pursue you for that and clamp your tyre, and collect N21,500.
If you are also coming from Upper Chime to Otigba Junction, after First Bank heading to JEZCO FILLING STATION, Once the Counting strikes number 79, stop immediately, because if you cross the number 79, Red light will appear immediately again, which you did not see, and they will also pursue you and clamp your tyre telling you that you have jumped traffic light, your N21500 is gone.
The attention of the government is hereby called to investigate and curb this abnormally.
