A petition has been submitted to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja, seeking the recall of Honourable Alex Ikwechegh.
The petition, signed by registered voters from Aba North and South Federal Constituency, cites Ikwechegh’s gross misconduct involving an unprovoked assault and threat to the life of Citizen Abuwatseya Stephen, a driver.
The petition stated that voters have lost confidence in Ikwechegh’s ability to represent them, deeming his conduct unbecoming of a legislator.
The petitioners request INEC to verify their signatures and, if they meet the requirements of Section 69 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, conduct a referendum within 90 days to determine whether Ikwechegh should be recalled.
