Alex Mascot Ikwechegh, a member of the House of Representatives, has been arraigned before an Abuja Chief Magistrate Court for allegedly assaulting a cab driver at his Abuja residence. The lawmaker, who represents Aba North and South federal constituency of Abia State, was charged with abuse of office, assault, and threat to life. However, he pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The court has granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in the same amount. The sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and provide their utility bills as proof of residence. The matter has been adjourned to November 8 for trial.
