NDLEA Cracks Down on High-Profile Drug Traffickers and Racketeers

Abuja, Nigeria – In a major breakthrough, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested several high-profile individuals involved in drug trafficking and racketeering in Nigeria.

According to a statement by the NDLEA, Alhaja Aishat Feyisara Ajoke Elediye, a 61-year-old Lagos socialite, was arrested for leading a major drug cartel operating from Mushin area of Lagos. The cartel was responsible for importing and distributing large quantities of cannabis and other illicit substances across the country.

The NDLEA also arrested Abideen Adio, a 41-year-old staff member of Alhaja Ajoke, for driving a truck carrying 1,540 kilograms of imported cannabis. The truck was intercepted by NDLEA operatives along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

In a separate case, Emeka Emmanuel Mbadiwe, a US-trained Nollywood filmmaker, was arrested for importing 17.30 kilograms of cannabis from the United States. Mbadiwe was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

The NDLEA also apprehended Sodade Sunday Eniola, an ex-convict, for passport racketeering. Eniola was previously convicted and sentenced to four years in prison for a similar offence.

Furthermore, Khadijat Abdulraheem, a 24-year-old fresh graduate, and Ayomide Morakinyo, a 20-year-old student of the University of Ilorin, were arrested for producing and selling drug-laced cupcakes to students.

Additionally, Ismail Muhammad, a 45-year-old local dealer, was arrested for possessing 149,090 pills of tramadol and exol-5.

The NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended the operatives for their tireless efforts in disrupting the illicit drug supply chain. He also warned that the agency will continue to crack down on drug traffickers and racketeers, no matter their social status or position.

The suspects are currently being interrogated and will be charged to court soon.
