Tragedy struck in Anambra State over the weekend, with multiple lives lost in a cult-related clash and a fatal road accident. The cult clash, which occurred in Nibo, Awka South Local Government Area, resulted in at least seven deaths, according to police reports. In a separate incident, a road accident claimed multiple lives along the Onitsha-Awka Expressway. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the accident, which involved a container-laden truck and a commercial bus, resulting in the loss of about five lives. The FRSC attributed the cause of the accident to a bad portion of the road. In another development, our intelligence gathering observed that people are expressing their concern and anger about the recent tragic incidents in Anambra State, particularly in Nibo, Awka South. The multiple road accidents being witnessed and the cult-related clashes that have indeed claimed many lives and caused devastation in the area.
Dazzlenews noted that it’s heartbreaking to see our community suffer in this way. We feel the frustration of the citizenry. Some people lamented the devastation being experienced, especially with the current governance of Prof. Soludo as the governor of the state. Consequently, many are desirous for change. Meanwhile, some other schools of thought are of the view to stand together and advocate for a better future for Anambra State.
