The principal of Presbyterian Senior Science College in Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Nse, Sunday Umoh has been suspended due to allegations of serving substandard food to students. This decision was made after a viral video showed students being served poorly prepared and non-nutritious meals, sparking widespread public concern.
The State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Idongesit Etiebet has condemned the incident and ordered an investigation into the school’s boarding conditions and facilities. The investigation will review the standards of boarding services and ensure that all facilities meet the minimum requirements to protect students’ welfare.
The suspension of Dr. Umoh will remain in effect pending the outcome of the investigation. However, parents have been urged to support their children’s educational needs, and the ministry of education in the state has emphasized its focus on upholding student dignity and well-being in all public institutions.

In response to the incident, Mrs. Etiebet stated that she had visited the school unannounced and ordered a comprehensive review of all boarding facilities across the state.
