Climate Change, Beware… NIMET

Due to CLIMATE CHANGE there has been haphazard rainfall for some time this year.

The Nimet 2024 rainfall pattern states that:

“2024 Little Dry Season (LDS)” was expected to begin on July 22 and continue for up to 27 days.

Ceteris Paribus – This dry spell (August break) will continue till 18th August.

It further states: This year, the Rainy Season will last till November.

Which means farmers can plan their second cropping when the rain resumes later this month.

But the problem is – How many farmers are aware of this information?

The people that need this information are not aware

Due to the kind of farmers/type of farming we do in Nigeria this weather information should be everywhere (pamphlets, local languages, radio stations, news platforms, extension support, announcements every day especially the beginning of farming season).
